Quite frankly the reputation for good customer service is highly overrated. I went into the Tyffany store at The Court Yard Royal Exchange to buy a chain for a gift. The initial welcome was nonexistent and eventually when one of the staff came to me the interaction wasn't necessarily welcoming. The woman asked me "can I help you"? I explained why I was there and she just walked off without saying why or what she was doing. I still proceed with the purchase after waiting for another staff to finish serving the people he had there. No one invited me to take a seat while I was waiting or bothered to glance with a smile. It reminded me of the scene from 'Pretty Lady' when Julia Roberts walks into the "rich" store (even though there's nothing rich about the look or location of this particular store) to be snubbed at. I actually regret buying the gift there but unfortunately for me I had run out of time to go somewhere else.
Just popped… I was told I could not take photos of the potential items I wanted to buy????and that the website would provide that items to view!!! Really? Horrid stuck up staff!
Staff are rude and do not allow you to browse without them right next to you. I went to find a birthday gift for my wife, completely empty store and the sales bloke (in a very rude way) said I could only have him show me things, not browse. Now, this is an absurd policy given if I were to have a quick browse then I would not necessarily be in close contact with anyone versus what this store wants is to have this guy hovering over me the whole time. Basically, if you don’t already know exactly what you want then you should avoid. In fact, I only went in out of convenience as it is my local - I’ve had previous poor experiences with this particular Tiffany’s and this recent experience has turned me off for good.
I used to like this shop but was not very well looked after recently when I took a piece of jewellery that had broken and it was a clear defect. Staff did their best to absolve responsibility so that the shop doesn’t have to cover the repair. Not a great attitude from such a reputable business.
